hey guys,

im going to do a build a pc for my uncle and need the following:

Mortherbored
CPU
RAM
Hard Drive
Windows XP (i dont care what version just cheap)

the price for that lot should be as close as possible to £250

he wants to write letters on it NO INTERNET  but a little Call of Duty 1 (not 2)
some other low spec ww2 games aswell so no major gfx

thanx for any help

Get him a PS2 and a pen.

I know there's the "no competitors" rule, but does this apply in this case since OCUK don't operate that low down, I doubt you could build a working PC for £250 from this site... That being the case, Dell's factory store sometimes has some stonking bargains, it's old stock, reconditioned stock, stuff like that, accessible from the main site. Well worth a look for a low-end box.

ok dude , i knew it was a long shot

but do u know what parts i should be aiming for like cpu type etc etc

Second hand. Anything with a GeForce 3 or better.

Hmm. Dell wil do one for £250 with no monitor, you could get a cheap CRT quite easily. Pentium 4 3ghz, 512mb ram, dvdrw, mouse and keyboard, works and XP Home, 80gb drive, doesn't say what card it is but it'll be a stinker, 128mg X300 most likely. You get the full "as new" standard warranty too.

Still a Dell, mind, with all that entails, but it's a not-too-awful specced, guaranteed, nearly-new PC.
