We need to know whether this info below means 1.66GHz on each core or both cores combined? (is it 2cores*0.83MHzeach=1.66GHz OR 2cores*1.66GHzeach=3.32GHz?) <hopes its 1.66each = 3.32>

T2300E is dual 1.66 and not 3.32 :D :p sure 3.32 combined but it doesn't exactly work by just adding speeds of each core :)
Good. At least it beats a single core Turion 1.8 :D

Basically a dude I know had his 500mhz old dell wiped out by a lightning and has got £700 in >competitor< vouchers - he's moaned at the insurance for a certain supplier better than >competitor< (and I told hom OCUK) but they won't budge - so i'm trying to find best (read least bad at >competitor< ).
Fortunately you lot are far more believable than any old spotty teenager there.

EDIT: Oops, sorry mods about mentioning said "competitor"
