I'm looking at getting a laptop for a bit of light gaming (only had a GeForce 7400 in it).

I am looking at 2, one with a Core Duo T2300E (1.66ghz) and one with a Core Duo 2 T5500 (1.66gh).

How much difference will there be between these two?

5 % ish maybe.

More than that IMO, maybe up to 10% (possibly more)
Core2 is quite a bit quicker than Yonah, however the T5500 is a 2mb chips which might hurt performance a touch. If you want to game, as someone else mentioned its probably worth spending a bit more on GFX rather than CPU, as neither CPU's are going to come close to limiting your gameplay...

i have just picked up a HP laptop with the AMD Turion 64 x2 TL56(1.8gig) with the geforce 7600(256mb), its has a 17in screen(1440x900) and it plays GTR2 and full speatrum warrier2 without any problems.
havent had time to add anymore games yet to see how it handles them

The difference would be noticeable I think. More than 5& anyways and would be upto coping future games.

Getting the Merom is worth the extra money.

Im getting a lappy based on a Merom myself, planning on putting a higher spec'd one when I get some more money.

Is the lappy your looking at a Rock one?
