Just received my Core i5 2500K in a medium sized box.
It contains a small processor chip and a large cooling fan/heatsink.
The installation instructions consist of a few pages of pictures then many pages of warranty information in many languages.
There is no mention/picture of thermal paste anywhere, but the copper coloured heat sink base has three strips of something grey on it.
Is this a thermal compound which will melt when the processor is first fired up?
If so I assume it is reasonably easy to remove if I subsequently decide to fit a bigger cooler?
Cheers
