Just got my OS sorted out on my new hard drive. Took hours to get it working :| but anyways
since new os and hard drive i thought all my clocks and speed will be the same. There not..
CPU-Z says
Core Speed 1203.1mhz
Multiplyer x 9.0
Bus speed 133.7 mhz ( what a number )
Core voltage 0.888 V

Iv seen people with same problem, just that i cant find the forum/topic !
any help?

anything else you need to know ask away!

Pc feels quick, things load, could it be program issue?

This is standard Base clock frequency - no dramas.

Everything is fine and as it should be. Its using speedstep which reduces the multiplier to save power when the CPU isn't being heavily taxed.

If you want to see the full speed in CPU-Z then you need to load the CPU, I suggest running this program.

For reference, this is the forum topic you are looking for. IMHO it should be a sticky because this question comes up a lot.

Errr that's 1.2GHz not 1.2MHz.

Anyways, doesn't look dissimilar to mine when it's on a low power mode. Except mine is set to 1.6GHz when it's mooching along doing nothing.

Do you have any programs which adjust the processor speed installed?

Also try putting the cpu under load and checking if cpuz shows anything different.

Im not sure if diferent OS's have affect how speedstep works, but with windows 7, and an i7 860 it's speedstep drops the cpu from 2.8Ghz all the way down to 1.12Ghz (40% clock).

Its really great, as the PC still feels responsive in windows as it can step up and even turbo in less time then it takes to blink, yet while web browsing, the entire system (including a GTX275) uses just 69 watts!

i7's are fantastic.
