core i5 with 1600mhz ram?

hi, i have the core i5 750. I also purchased 1600mhz dominator ram. I read that to make it run at 1600mhz you have to overclock it. Is that right? My system only recognises 1333mhz. Can any1 help me?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)
 
What motherboard are you using, as most should take 1600mhz by changing the memory multiplier.
