Hey Guys,

Ok.. haven't overclocked before but just bought new kit with the intention of this being my first o/c pc. I've received all my bits EXCEPT my 3rd party cpu cooler... which is not gonna get here till monday next week :(

Its killing me having all components and not being able to build and switch the damn thing on cos I'm waiting on the cooler.. actually the phrase that comes to mind is... 'I'm like a dog with 2 dicks right now'... lol. To compound my frustration the wife has gone away all weekend and I really need to take advantage of this quiet time! :)

I feel like installing the stock cooler, doing the build minus the overclock just for the weekend, then come monday I'll remove the stock and install 3rd party but just looking for advice... is this gonna create problems with the thermal paste from the stock cooler if I replace it so quickly? will I have to scrape it off? am I gonna make a mess of my nice new i7 920 chip? am I risking problems with a good thermal connection when I install the 3rd party cooler cos I'm exposing it to air and dirt etc?

Do I need to just suck it up and be patient till monday? some common sense advice from you experts needed as I'm not thinking straight at the moment

Cheers in advance!

Ross

Thats the reply I wanted to hear, cheers reflux lol :D

I ordered the Akasa Nero CPU Cooler, (all I could afford) I believe it fastens in the same way as the stock cooler so shouldn't be a problem!

Thanks again for quick reply mate :)
