Thanks guys!

Hi, nice spec :)

If you want to lower the cost you could drop the motherboard to this which will save £40.00, the motherboard has onboard sound so you could drop the sound card and go for this cpu cooler.

The price of this PSU just got dropped today - get one while they are still in stock :), its one of the very best PSUs.

I'd also use this optical drive, that LG DVD is not the best at writing error free (the LG blu-ray you also picked is fine). Also, why the two optical drives? Planning to burn on-the-fly?

That monitor is fine (for a TN), but I must recommend this dell E-IPS panel monitor. It may be 2 inches less - but you'll love the image quality and viewing angles compared to the sammy.

All else looks grand.

@ RJC

thanks for the reply.that motherboard you suggested, will that overclock the CPU to 4ghz?im liking the cooler you suggested too.

thanks

@ cmndr andi

thanks for you input too.. Just a couple of question.. that PSU you suggested, is that any good? It's just i havent heard of the brand thats all.. and last but not the least.. the monitor - I can see it has a good review, but does it have a HDMI connection on it?

thanks

The PSU is rather good, a review here. The company "Pc Power and Cooling" have been around for a while, making some very high quality PSUs, however, their distribution was limited so they weren't as prolific as the big boys. Now OCZ has bought them and they are everywhere, fortunately they have not compromised on quality to feed the mass market.

As for the dell monitor, unfortunately it only has DVI-D and VGA connections. However, all graphics cards output in DVI-D and if you need to plug in an 360 or something - a HDMI to DVI converter is very cheap and does not compromise quality.

@ cmndr andi

i see. if it doesnt compromise on quality then, this might be a good choice. You see i was under the impression that, if the monitor has HDMI input and your graphics has HD and HDMI you will have this awesome picture quality.. but thats just me :)

@ ripped

thanks for the input. you suggested the Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 is this better than the asus one? the rest of your suggestion had been suggested by RJC too and its already on my list. :)

Wikipedia says:

"Because HDMI is electrically compatible with the signals used by Digital Visual Interface (DVI), no signal conversion needs to take place nor is there a loss of video quality when a DVI to HDMI adapter is used"

So basically, even if you use the the HDMI output from a DVD player/ PS3 / 360 / Blu Ray player / Graphics Card and use an adapter to turn it into DVI for the monitor - it will look just as good as if the monitor did come with an HDMI port. Both HDMI and DVI-D are have more than enough bandwidth for HD.

Edit: As for UD5 vs P6T deluxe v2 - I have the ASUS board and I would recommend the gigabyte. Nothing wrong with mine, but I like some of the extra features and overclocking of the UD5.
