also the RAM corsair dominator 1600mhz DDR3 has 1.6 -1.65v and the mobo recomends a max of 1.65v should i maybe go for a 1300mhz ram speed which has 1.5 - 1.6v??

It'll be fine, had mine around 1850Mhz+ at cas8 at 1.65v

As for psu take a look at a PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750, you won't get any better for the money. And 8 of the USB ports are on the back panel.

go for the 920 instead of the 940, and buy yourself a Raptor or sweet GPU with the money saved

I was checking out the 920 and 940, theres about a 200 pound difference but all i can see different about them is a 0.3 Ghz increase in speed, Is there anything else

Also has anyone got any suggestions for a case ans PSU

The 940 just has higher multipliers is all. Might help you get it a bit higher with a bad clocking cpu. For the money, get the 920 in practice there is very little between them all, including the 965.

Case? Antec 900 is quite popular.

hmm, Ive never OC before and this is my first build so prob wont which is why im still debating the 920 vs 940 2.93Ghz sounds good but the price difference is quite large

although im not a massive gamer so do i really need the jump frm 2.66 to 2.93?

its so easy a baby could do it loo, plus most good mobos have a CPU step up option, hwere it will automatically take the CPU up to the 965 for you :)

Go for a cheaper motherboard like the ud5. The extreme provides the same performance but just different cooling which isn't really worth it.

Literally all you would have to do is change the BLCK option from Auto (133) to 147. I'd bet all the remaining Auto values, voltage etc would stay the same as stock.
