I really can't get to grips with the search facility on OcUK and it's 3 letter limit :(

Anyway ;)

I now have a Core I7 920 C0/C1 stepping (according to CPU-Z)

I have it running nicely at 3.36Ghz (1.15v) without it breaking 70c in Prime stability tests. What is the recommended max to go for without extreme cooling please?? (I have an Akasa Nero Direct v2 in a cramped old Lian Li case).

I know the D0 steppings will do 4Ghz mostly, but I'd be happy with 3.6 to 3.8Ghz if it won't damage the chip.

Also, what settings on a Asus P6T would be optimal for 3.6 to 3.8Ghz???

Thanks

CK

Managed to get my C0 up to 3.6GHz and doesn't go above 70C in prime FFT/blend.

Currently using 172x20 (+1 for Turbo) with 1.25V (no LoadLineCalibration) which drops to 1.216V in Windows and 1.184V under full load, on a Gigabyte X58-DS4.

Have managed to get it up to 4GHz and prime stable, but it would then crash randomly (whether gaming or just normal usage), think it's this poo OCZ ram bringing it down.

Done 3.610Ghz now (172x21) with 1.225Volts (LoaLineCalibration enabled). Temps just creep into the 80's on Prime 95 large FFT, but it seems stable to me (primed for an hour without any issues - I know I should try longer but I can't be bothered..... ;) )

I'll try it in BFBC2 later.

I am on 3.8 i need 1.3 volts for it to be stable. I am using an artic cooler freezer 7 pro. C0 stepping chips do run hot without a decent cooler. But require a lot volts for high OC's

I used to run a CO/C1 stepping. and got 3.9 with good temps after 9 hours prime.
Never tried 4.0. never had the need to, so left it @3.9.

Running a DO now. not clocked it yet.
Still got the old chip, great chip that was. might be putting it on MM soon.:D

Question: Is it better to run at 180x20 to get 3.6Ghz or 172x21??? I have DDR1600 ram so it seems the ram runs at a higher frequency with the FSB at 180.....

THanks
