Okay, I currently have the following:

Core 2 Duo e6600 2.4ghz @ 3.6ghz
Crucial Ballistix Tracers 4x 1GB DDR2 RAM 800MHz
Asus P5B Deluxe
Asus GTX 275
Corsair HX520
Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme

The CPU has been overclocked since 2007

I'm looking to upgrade to a Core i7 setup and was thinking about these parts:

What I'm having trouble selecting is the RAM and motherboard.

I want to overclock the i7 920 to 4ghz and be able to run an SLI setup in future. I'm not quite sure how the memory dividers work, if I have a 4ghz clock speed, what memory speed would I need?

Thanks for any advice :)

Wouldnt it be better to get a 1366 Noctua fan? This is a beast of a cooler, but will keep your i7 cool at the best of times, and give you a decent overclock.

If you want the best memory for your system, then this would be better

Also for the mobo, this might be better also than what you selected

Have all the items I recommended, and you wont be sorry :)

In terms of how the overclocking works, the best person to speak to would be rjkoneill, as I bought a new machine, and he setup for me 4 profiles, 3.6,3.8,4.0 & 4.2. Easily selectable for me, without any trial & error
