Got a Q6600 @ 3GZ for about a year now. Never really paid any attention to the difference between the different cores, Just thought one core was working harder :p therefore hotter.

Is this the case or have I got an uneven surface somewhere, I did lap my AF7

lol i just posted something exactly like this. I get 10C more at idle and thats it. Load temps are equal. Weird :S

My water block is sitting flat too, so far as i can tell. Not lapped the heatspreader yet tho.

It's not really anything to worry about. You've got four cores, and unless they are exact molecule-for-molecule copies of each other, you're going to get a slight difference in temperature. When they're at full load, they'll be dumping their heat onto each other, so that's why they go to the same temperature.

I get the same, difference of 5 degrees or so even at full load (on a E8200 though, not quad). Is it worth lapping the heatspreader? CPU block already been lapped

I found it worthwhile, dropped about 4-5'c of my load temps. But it will void the warranty on your cpu.
