Right i've just planted my new e8500 in and ramped it up to what seems like a stable 4.3ghz for the moment. have only managed to do a couple of hours of orthos so far though. now this being my first 45nm cpu i'm a little worried about temps. have read through loads of old posts here and on other sites but i cant seem to find a proper answer about whats too hot. got myself confused with all this tjunction ect ect...

i'm sitting on 1.45v in windows at the moment which is a bit high but i've not started to tweak yet. at this voltage i'm hitting 65 max as the temp in real temp(not the distance to tj max) i guess this is about as high temp wise as i'd want to go? assuming that i'm reading the right temp of course.

cheers for any help......this is only my second overclock.

tj max for 45 nm is 100, and yes that is about as higher temp as you would want to go
as for 1.45v id say thats quite a high voltage if you want your chip to have a long life

got it settled 1.360v @ 4.2ghz now maxing at 54 degrees. to get it to boot with anything higher than 4.2 is requiring well over 1.4v so i guess i just got a bad chip:mad: was really hoping for 4.5.....ah well, 300mhz prob aint going to kill me.

Is it possible the p35 m/b is to blame? i know p35 wasn't really designed around the 45nm chips.

oops just noticed i posted this in general hardware. feel free to move to overclocking forum mods.
