Hello ( yes this is my first post)

just wondering if anyone has had any problems with temps from their e8400.

i took some temps using Everest with default cooler then changed to water cooling and core 1 is still saying its 40 degrees? but my core 2 has dropped from 38 to 26.

anyone shed any light... i did have a look for another thread if someone could point me i would be very grateful

thanks

Welcome

download 'realtemp'
click the 'test sensors' button
this will test the thermal sensors and give you a reading for each,
a text box will also pop up telling you what you should expect.

If one of them does not move then it is probably stuck, nothing to worry about and nothing you can do to fix it either.
The chips have a failsafe on them to shut down before overheating, so just go by the other core temperature

thanks for the reply

i just done it and it says it may be stuck. would it be safe to assume that core 1 and 2 will be the same give or take 5-8 degrees and would be safe to overclock

yeah, the dual cores tend to be very close in temps, so to go by one should be ok, just keep it in the low 60s max and you shouldn't have any problems

My idel temps never ever go below 45c, even tho the temps are well below that. The reason I know the temps are below 45c, cos if I stress the cpu for 10mins or so, then stop the stressing within 1-2secs its gone from in the 50s back to 45c, it should take a good 30-60secs to return to idel temp.
