Hey, I am thinking of getting a new CPU. I was just wondering, I have an Intel Pentium D processor that runs at a 3.4GHz clock speed. Would it be better to get an Intel Core2Duo with a 2.6GHz clock speed. IS the D better because it has a fast clock speed and because it too is dual core, or is the more modern CORE2 fast because its shiny and new?

i had a pentium d 805 @ 4ghz, then had an e6300 @ stock speed (1.86ghz)

the core 2 duo was most definately noticably faster...

Well, thank you guys. thanks to u it seems that my choice is clear, i will probably get shot of my Pentium D and get a core 2 duo.

Thanks for all of your help people :)
