Hey guys, I'm just wondering if there's any reason why a new Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.67GHz (1066FSB) wont work in my VAIO VGC-RB60G. As far as I can tell, the computer has some OEM version of a 945 Chipset Mobo ('Prague'?). At the moment, the 2.8GHz Pentium D just aint cuttin it (which begs the question, will i really feel this upgrade or might it just be in vain?).

Thanks

In what? What do you use your machine for?

Media Center and gaming mostly, part of me wants to just wait a year or so and get an entirely new rig, but every time I find myself having to compromise in games I wanna run out and buy a c2d. I have an x1950 (8800s dont fit the case-doh!) and I think its really the CPU that's bottlenecking things.

So sounds like I will have to replace the mobo, and though Sony support have told me its a standard ATX case (I've been down this road before), I dont really believe them at all, how could I tell for sure if its ATX or micro ATX?

Thanks again
