Hi im in the process of moving to Intel just picked up a DFI Infinity P35-T2RL Blood-iron cheap and am now looking for a chip for it.Would it be better to go for a new e2160 or a second hand e4xxx or e6xxx with the extra cache.

If it's for mainly gaming then yeah, get the E2160/E2180. My m8 bought the E6850 and I see no difference between his rig and mine.

Get an e2180, really good and cost next to nothing. People have overclocked the hell out of this chip with no problems (as long as cooling is efficient) Intel are better than AMD at the moment by the looks of things. Plus if you do overclock, intel always have more headroom than an AMD chip.
