Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 XT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g)
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)

Thinking of upgrading the the above. Should this be good for 3Ghz? Running a 520w Corsair PSU.

Also am I right in thinking that for 3Ghz I will need 430FSBx7 (which would equal 860mhz on the ram - will they do this at default timings?)

Quite a few people are hitting 3ghz with that system, including that cooler, i'd dtill be happier with a ninja or zalman, but i suppose thats personal preferance, the ac7 is a damn nice cooler for the price...

With regards them mem, it should do that speed at default timings, but it depends how well your batch overclocks, may have to turn them down a bit, should hit that speed though...

i have same motherboard and cpu same ram but 1 gig and hitting 3Ghz no problem and thats on stock cooler just got a artic 7 as temp was 65 on stock
so dont think youll have any problems

im running a OCZ ModStream 450w ATX2.2 Power Supply but only useing a 7600gs so you shouldnt have a problem at all with the 520 watt

nice little set up there

Decided on going for a Tuniq tower instead of the Artic now.

Also thinking of getting the Crucial 10th Anniversary ram.. is it worth the £35 over the Geil? And will it be ok in the DS3?

Yes (IMO), and Yes.

No, you don't have to go for the crucial ram. The Geil does fine. But it is your personal preference tho, if you think the crucial ram is a must, go for it. No point holding back if your budget allows it :D

The only issue i have heard with the DS3 and the crucial ram is that it needs at least 2.0v or 2.1v  and stock is 1.8v, obviously you can change this in the bios but iv heard people were having problems getting it to boot as far as the bios !

Im getting exactly same rig in a week or two but going for the geil ultra :D

Hmmm still in two minds about the Crucial Ram, I can stretch the extra £35 if needs be but only if it's going to be worth it.

450+ FSB I'd like ideally... was going to settle for 430FSB (just over 3Ghz) but have been reading that the DS3 needs to be ideally run at 450FSB+ if going over 400FSB because of the strap timings.

How likely is the Geil to hit 450FSB?

Just noticed that the team xtreem ram is now available pre-order on ocuk website, this stuff has set world records all over the place, they have a 2gb pc6400 kit for £205, might consider this myself
