Just want to know since the case can handle the heat output of the cor2duo, and you can get MATX core2duo boards, will the CPU heatsink in this case attach to socket 775 boards?..., no word from zalman, they just say it cannot handle the heat ouput of socket 775 cpu's, but no mention whether the cpu heatsink will fit on the boards/socket..., am i right in thinking that when you remove the retention bracket from a socket 478 board then it will be the same as a socket 775 board?..

They are not compatible otherwise they wouldn't make special LGA775 coolers, they would just supply S478 mounting brackets to adapt your old cooler. The sockets are not the same and the holes are a different spacing. Sorry.

Reason they make Socket 775 cpu's is casue the 478's have a retention bracket..

Anyway - just to kill this once and for all - the OP question was can I fit a S775 motherboard in this case?

The answer is yes - http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/view.asp?idx=177&code=020

if you look down the page there is a list of supplied parts and underneath the S478 retention mechanism is the S775 retention mechanism. Now why would they supply 2 mounting mechanisms if they were the same size?

As Core2Duo's run as cool as AMD 64's I would say it will probably work just fine.

cause the capacitors are in the way... :p

Thanks, hopefully the contents list is right, will order sometime soon, but If I don't get the Socket LGA775 Plate as advertised, will I get a refund for the case?, and I hope I won't have to pay return shipping... If I order from OCUK I mean, might be better ordering off an official Distributor?reseller though.., as heard OCUK are not the best for returns...

I attempted to help someone. That's all. Now they are apparently calling me a spoofer. No worries. I won't make the same mistake again.

My Bad, just that I have been looking forever for an answer, posted on the Zalman Forums, and all they say is that there are no Core2duo MATX boards available, replied with a list of 10 I could think of but no answer..., thanks for the help..., suprised no ne has thoguh about building a core2duo build with this case, could easily get a silent Viiv Machine, which uses little power..
