I'm currently running a AMD64 3200+ with a AGP 6800GT card so right now pretty much anything is a step up for me.

Looking to build a new computer specifically for gaming but I don't demand absolute DirectX10 High definition performance that a lot on here seem to crave.

I just want something thats going to get solid FPS on QuakeWars and any other game on the horizon really.

I'm also not looking to do any overclocking. Quite happy to run it all at stock.

Is the E4400 worth buying or is their a better alternative for the money? I can't spot any benchmarks for it on tomshardware or anywhere else for that matter.

It all depends on your budget mate.

If you're looking to spend £110 on the CPU, get the E6420
£110+, get the E6600.

GFX-wise it looks like you have a pretty tight budget so i'd go for the 8800GTS 320mb, (or if you really dont care about future-proofing, something like a 2nd hand 7950GT will do just fine for about £100).

I'm not really on a budget could afford the top spec stuff, just not sure I need it. Still playing old games a lot like CS which is hardly graphical. Other than that I do play CoH and would like to run that on high graphics. The only game on the horizon I want is QuakeWars oh and Spore but thats a long way off :(
