I have a Asrock Conroexfire esata2 board with a Core2Duo 2.13Ghz processor now i can clock this too 2.4Ghz by increasing the fsb to 300Mhz but if i take it any higher the max im alloud to is 350Mhz it fails to boot and the boot failure guard kicks in and resets it to default. Any ideas how i can get 3GHz my temps arnt bad at 2.4Ghz i get a max temp under prime95 of 50C any suggestions i am running 533MHz Ram a 2Gb and 2x 1Gb , also it will see 4GB but only let me use 3.2Gb as its not running in dual channell any ideas cheers guys i no theirs a lot here hope u can help
 
What have you done when it gets to 350MHz? Have you just increased the FSB or have you increased the VCore?

Also you say that you can only use 3.2gb, are you sure that this is not because you are using a 32bit operating system, they can only address around that much RAM, you need a 64bit OS to use more. Also your RAM arrangement (2gb + 2x1gb) isn't ideal, as dual channel would be a benefit...
 
That particular board is not a very good overclocker i'm afraid, Asrocks like that, and there are many variations, were all poor, but then given what they cost they were a bargain.

It is also not ideal that you are not running dual channel either. If you are using a 32bit windows then 3.2 is all you can use anyway. imo you are better off running the 2x1gb dual channel with the random stick removed.

For the money a new board will cost, you could get a faster chip in there at stock, but tbh it's not worth changing around much, given what it will cost.
 
i am using a 64bit os so for some reason its saying only 3.2Gb is usable yet it detects 4GB

With regards to the cpu i am just increasing the fsb what other things should i be looking at changing so u thinking i should just be happy with the 2.4Ghz @ 50C or is their no point in the overclock and should i just leave as standard
 
it's a chipset limitation as listed here, trust me built hundreds of budget systems with these boards and none of them overclock well, if at all. At that time Asrock were modifying old chipsets because it was more economical that way, and tbh no-one was offering the spec for the money either. They are reliable though.

Try all you like you wont get far ramping that board unfortunately. If you really want something faster grab a quicker core2 cpu.
