Coin toss between the q6600 or the e6850.

it's going into a sugo01 with the fanless silverstone heatsink......the only thing stopping me going quad is the heat.

what sort of temps should i expect from each of them?

Fine, if you're leaving it at stock? When you see people complaining about the temps it's generally those that are running them @ 3GHz and overvolting them. That said they're still slightly higher at stock but nothing to cry about.

do you have any figures to compare them?

From what I have read the difference at stock is around 10-15 degrees. With the Quad being the higher of the two.

So Q6600/e6850 idle 40/30 degrees, load 60+/45+

think i'll have to go 6850 then as the temps will be hotter in a fanless sugo....?

it's just how long i'm going to have to wait.

I'm without a pc at the moment....doing my head in, although i know with it going in the sugo that the 95w version would help.

Reality Bites: I'm in a similar boat, going to put it in my X-Qpack tho. This is whats in my basket at the moment, just waiting to get paid :(

Gigabyte GA G33M-S2 Micro ATX (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail
Zalman CNPS8700-LED Aero Flower CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940/775/AM2)
OcUK 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Kit

Strongly reccomend you go for a good low profile(ish) cooler like the Zalman.

i've got the silverstone sg06 (i think) at the moment.....with no fan as it's under the PSU in the sugo.

i may go for a silent fan solution like the zalman....will probably cool the surrounding chipsets a little better too.
