You are running a beta? Therein lies the problem. You should be a member of the f@h beta group, expect issues and be prepared to report them via that group.

These are new - using the new Core 17 with Quick Return Bonus.

Also, you don't need to be a member of the beta group - they aer done at your own risk.

See attached:

Introducing Folding@Home Core 17 – GPU zeta core
As also announced on OpenMM/Folding@home programmer Yutong "proteneer" Zhao's web site, we are happy to announce that Folding@Home Core 17 has entered Beta. Externally, you probably won’t notice too much of a difference. Internally, this is a complete overhaul that brings many new features, and sets a strong foundation for the future of GPU core development. In addition, the restructuring brings much tighter integration of the core with the rest of the development within Folding@Home.

We’re also introducing an explicit solvent project (p7661) as part of the Beta. To keep the credit assigned to these projects consistent with previous explicit solvent work units run on CPUs, we are also awarding a quick return bonus with a k-factor of 0.75. This reflects the additional scientific value of these units, and keeps the Folding@Home credit awards consistent across different architectures.

You on the latest nvidia drivers?

On the flip side we might actually have a usable AMD folding core  :p

V7.2.9
Radeon HD 7970; 1050/1500 @1.26V
Drivers: 13.1
Windows 7 64bit

PRCG: 7661 (27,1,3)
TPF: 2min 35 secs
PPD: 42413.19

No extra flags. CPU usage on one thread (forced) is less than 5%
GPU memory used 308MB

Hey Biffa

I see your over browsing the Folding Forum - seems that the ATI Cards will have an advantage on this new core for the time being (I've not seen anyone post any good reports for Nvidia) - I've not had any of these either so unable to comment.

so are ati cards worth buying now then? as i can seem to get them local on ebay a lot more easy than nvidia !

either way i need to buy more items of whatever before we get raped from techpowerup :D:D

also biffa, i was under the impression you have 1 x 4p and 1 x 2p set up? im sure i read you have 2 x 4p set ups :o

you lot must be loaded, i feel somewhat embarrased when i read and look at the images of your set ups

have you sorted this yet digemaster?

Updated my drivers to 314 from 280. Interestingly the core 15 units have dropped from 18.5k PPD to 16k PPD for the 8000 units

However the beta core 17 units are now working but only scoring 10k PPD

It seems so compared to the 6* series cards. But then AMD is optimised for OpenCL and this is an OpenCL client I believe.

#1 Never ever feel embarrassed by your contribution.
#2 Like many others here I have been buying and selling stuff to pay for my cruncher upgrades for a long time now, I don't play games, and upgrading at smart times means you can often do so for a lot less outlay.
#3 Yes 2 4P boxes, but one of them and weebeastie (quad gpu box) were for a few years located where I didn't personally have to pay the leccy either for the boxes or the aircon.
#4 Don't get too worked up about the stats :)

Interesting thread about why Fermi is providing better results than Kepler and why AMD is providing better results than both with the new OpenCL core.

Swings and roundabouts, I remember the uproar when the new nvidia core came out for the 9800GTX and it wiped the floor with Ati who had the original gpu core on Folding.
