Corel Draw Slow - need gfx card?

I am using Corel Draw X4 a lot on my work PC and am experiencing long load times with some complex tasks involving lots of objects. My PC spec is as follows:

Gigabyte z77x-d3h
Intel 3570k
8gb corsair vengeance
128gb ssd
Corsair cx600m

I didn't get a gfx card originally as the PC is mainly used for office work and the 3570k is capable of taking care of that on its own. I'm wondering if a gfx card will make graphics program's like draw run smoother? I also have no idea where to start looking for one. I don't need anything extreme, just something to do the job.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, forgot to mention, I also have two monitors if that makes a difference (the motherboard has a VGA and a dvi port so currently using those).

a google search indicates coreldraw is not gpu hardware accelerated, so probably wont be much benefit.

possibly an overclock for the cpu may be better?

Thanks for the reply.

I don't know the first thing about graphics cards so really have no idea at this point. In terms of budget, I'd rather not spend more than I need to to get the job done but consider it a worthwhile investment as it will save me time in the long run.

That's interesting cornyfeet. It's seems odd that graphics software wouldn't make sure of a gpu but hey ho. Will look into overclocking the cup then.

There was an article back in 2012 about amd working with Corel. I will see if i can get it.

I done a bit of googling and can say for sure if at this time it can be Gpu accelerated. Google seems to say no but most sources are 2013 and older.

Edit: can't say for sure.

It's difficult to find up-to-date articles about graphics cards. I'm using x4, which is a couple of versions back so that might be a problem even if mad does work.

The program is installed on the SSD but the files are saved on a server. I have read about slow opening and saving but the slowness I'm experiencing is when editing objects (eg, i'm now waiting for it as i'm using the "simplify" command on a load of objects) so I don't think the file being saved on a HDD on the server will be a problem.

If the program does not use GPU acceleration, then a GPU will just be a waste of money.

And even if Corel have plans to eventually accelerate some functions, that would only be relevant if they are functions you actually use and, of course, you would need the have the latest/future version.

Some programs might constantly write to an open file, so you should try saving your slowest file locally (to the SSD) and seeing if that makes a difference.

The standard advice before buying any hardware applies: you should keep an eye which resources are actually being used so that means Task Manager (or better yet Process Explorer) and seeing if the CPU is being maxed (and you'd want to monitor on a per core basis in case one thread is holding the rest back) or if RAM is short.

So X4 doesn't even support multiple CPU cores, and there is no mention of GPU acceleration at all.

My advice overclock to give yourself the best single core performance you can, and/or get a newer version of CorelDraw.

That looks like it might be a problem. CPU usage is only 30% and the ram is less than 50% in task manager. I'm not sure about each CPU core though as I didn't think to look. I bet I will find that one core is being maxed out. Maybe an overclock would help
