CoreTemp or AsusProbe

Hey guys

Does AsusProbe give a true reading of core temps ? I remember reading before it was out by +10c . AsusProbe is showing my i7 @ 51c Stock and Coretemp 0.99.4 shows 40c Stock ..... I am using a Tuniq Tower 120 cooler .

What do you think ?

Go with coretemp, its gnna be more reliable

Thanks . Is 40c about right so at idle ? My gut feeling is I used to much artic silver when attaching the heatsink , but would rather not strip it down again.

That temp seems fine. Also, you could try RealTemp, another CPU temp monitor, for comparisson.

yeah check bios too, and take an average, just to give a clearer idea :]

Thanks . I tried RealTemp and it showed the same (40c)
When I clicked "Sensor Test" the temps jumped up to 55c for about 5 seconds then back to 40c again .... I tried the Prime95 test and its showing 58-60c accross the cores ...

Look ok with that cooler or should I reseat ?

Dont know what cooler you'v got, but 60 under full load is quite respectable, it'd also depend on your case cooling etc

Asus Probe load temps seem to vary by as much as 10C between boots for me, definitely something wrong with it.

Hi . Its a Tuniq Tower 120 , its a big-ass cooler. Case is a full size tower with entry and exit fans .

For i7, that's a very respectable temp. People on here run them up to 80C, some even further.
