Cornish Pasties

Always used to grab a pasty at the Falmouth Pasty Shop in St Swithin's Street when I was in Worcester city. Yum. Made on the premises, with the kitchen in full display from the street. Great value too.

Love them.

I usually pick one up from the West Cornwall Pastie Co. stands at Marylebone or Waterloo when I pass through.

West Cornwall Pastie Co! A-blooomin-mazing pasties. I first tried one (i think it was a blue cheese one) at the Reading Fest last year and it blew my mind. I haven't seen them up in Birmingham though :(
I suppose they don't sell up here.

The only thing that beats them is a Meat and tater pie from Wigan, theres a certain type in Wigan that are unbelievably good, i cant remember the name but Johny Vegas is always banging on about them.

My sister in law went out with a lad from Wigan. She was horrified that he actually enjoyed the Wigan "delicacy" that is a potato pie in a bun.

In other news, one of the few good things about Leicester is the Cornish Pasty shops they have here. You can get anything in a pasty - it's wicked!

Oggy's in the city centre here has closed, gutted!/QUOTE]
It has? I used to love their pastys, until about 2-3 years ago when their fillings started being just liquid mush - ick. I made the move to Rowes ;). I used to work in a Shell garage where fresh pastys were from Rowes, those that didnt sell, I could eat. I used to get a bit tubby during my uni breaks when i worked there ;)

Would I be wrong in thinking that WCPC is the national equivalent of the original Oggy Oggy Pasty company? (apparently now closed in Truro ^^^^)

I'll make you one sometime Von - and put an end to your apparent dislike of them. :p

had a curry pasty once, it was ok,
tbh theres nothing better than a hot pasty that burns your mouth on a cold winter night.
one of those plus points about cornwall that are keeping me here.

I just thought of them....

How tasty are good cornish pasties! the ones ya get in places like "Greggs" etc are tastless, empty and not remotely similar to geniune ones.

Any cornish people here make em? My mams auntie used to make them (she lived in truro) and we used to bring em home in a big box when we left

Any fans? :D

Love pasties. :D

Make my own from my Great-Grandmothers recipie. All thats in it is steak, onion, swede and potato...and they're also 12" across :D

Also have a recipie for the very very traditional 2/3 meat and potato and 1/3 apple pasty - yet to try that one.

Ones you buy are 99 out of 100 times - plain nasty...
