I may be moving to Cornwall with my family, I can live anywhere I like but want to be within a reasonable distance of Falmouth. Where is really nice to live that we can start looking at? I have a small family, we prefer the countryside as opposed to built up areas. We'd like somewhere friendly and safe to raise our little one.

TIA.

Falmouth is a very nice place to live (may be moving there myself) but rent is expensive and so are the properties. It's expensive there compared to other places.

Are you going to Falmouth University? If so, the campus is very nice and very cheap! If you can get a room/house. But, you have a family so i guess you aren't.

If you need to get to Falmouth for work/study then Truro is basically the epicentre of getting anywhere by bus in Cornwall.

I'd say have a look at Truro, Penryn and Falmouth. The roads into and out of Falmouth are a pain in the arse though, no A-Road, all B-Roads so can get big queues at rush hours.

I am not moving there for University mate, I'm 36 :)

I would like to be close to Falmouth for personal reasons. We'll be buying, not renting. I assume Falmouth is quite built up? Is it the same for Truro?

Never too late, a lot of people that go to the Uni are in their 40's! :p

Ummm, i wouldn't say it's as built up as Truro but it's a nicer place than Truro. Better people, nightlife, points of interest. Falmouth has come on a lot in the past 5 years.

If you would prefer to be out of, what essentially is a "city" for Cornwall, then Penryn is a nice place. There is a big supermarket there which is handy.

Also, look at Carnon Downs, Bissoe...They are just some surrounding areas that are in the middle of Truro and Falmouth.

If you don't drive though, or the rest of your family want transport and can't drive then i urge you to live in Falmouth or Truro as the bus times are terrible elsewhere.
