I have never been sure on the correct procedure for upgrading the chipset drivers on an existing build. I built my new rig 2 weeks ago and stupidly used the chipset drivers on the supplied CD rather than downloading the latest ones. Is it just a matter of downloading the most current version and installing them over the existing ones? I take it that newer chipset drivers would be compatible with my existing LAN and SATA drivers?

Download the new ones. Make sure they're "in tact" and it's not a corrupt download. Uninstall your existing motherboard drivers. Boot to safe mode. Use the tool (I can't remember the name of it) to get rid of all traces of the old drivers. Boot to normal mode. Wait and cancel all the "new hardware" prompts until no more appear, and then start the installation program.

Or just install on top.

Method 1 is the right way, method 2 works most times :)
