Correct way to clear up Google Drive (delete files)?

This is probably a stupid question but I pay for the 100GB storage on Google Drive. I have a Media (D:) drive that syncs directly to it. I've been getting the 'running out of storage' messages for ages now and have a bunch of old RAW photos, documents etc. I can easily tidy up. Just wondering what is the best way to go about it?

Do I delete locally and that syncs up to Google Drive? Or do I delete from Google Drive? Or do I have to do both? I'm a bit confused... :o

Thanks.

Either way will work.

Or you could create a new local folder outside of the Google drive folder and move content, which you don't need synced. It'll be removed from Drive, but you'll still have a local copy.
