Correct wiring phase on external AC LED floodlights

I'm replacing some halogen floodlights with low wattage LED floodlights on the outside of my house.

The floodlights I'm replacing are part of external zone lighting installed by the previous owner.

On an ordinary halogen light the wiring does not matter, however on the LED floodlights the wiring connections are marked blue and brown. Obviously I understand that AC is alternating 2 phase current.

The issue is because the existing lights are installed by previous owner, I have no way of knowing if the colours have been wired correctly on the cable going to existing halogen lights, I'm just trusting that blue is neutral and brown is live.

The Question, when wiring LED AC floodlights how important is wiring the lights the correct way around.

If you have the polarity wrong the worst that can happen is that the lights will not switch on.
To test the polarity use an electrical screwdriver, the light in the screwdriver will light up when touching the live.

You could always put a connector block on all ends and check each leg to earth to see which is 220v ~
