Hi

I've got a corrupted memory card that I've been trying to retrieve the movies from.

They are in .mov format and I seem to have retrieved them.

They are showing the proper sizes in Explorer but when I run them I get these error messages:

Quicktime:
"Error: -2048 the file is not a movie file"

Media Player Classic:
"failed to render the file"

Photoshop Elements 2
"The importer reported a generic error"

So every which way I have tried it, it won't play.

I don't understand what the problem could be...they are big files so obviously there, the file extension is there...but it refuses to open.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the link.

I've tried that and it's not happening...

I click play, the bottom bar flashes up showing the progress of the file and disappears again...in short...it won't play. :(

Perhaps the whole file hasn't been recovered...any ideas how I could investigate this further?

I have used RescuePro from Sandisk to retrieve the video files, PC Inspector couldn't even find them.

i remember this program called badcopy pro, if you can find it, then that might help you in recovering the data.

Thanks for the links guys.

Badcopy Pro finds some images on there that wasn't found by the other programs but couldn't find any .mov files.

I've tried Virtualdub and it doesn't support .mov files so I can't edit the files I have found :(

Are there any programs that allow you to deconstruct a mov file and take out certain bits and put them back into a cohesive video again?

As I previously mentioned Premiere Elements 2 won't do the job, but it is trying to read the full .mov file which is corrupted.

Thanks :)
