Hi guys

My mate was overclocking his ram and it got to the point where it wouldn't boot. I have suggested clearing the CMOS, including taking the battery out etc, but it still won't boot. Is it possible that he has corrupted his BIOS?

He's using an Asus M2NR32 AM2 series mobo.

More likely that he's knackered the ram tbh, what were the timings, voltages, mhz etc etc?

Usually hard to kill so quickly.

Power off at the wall

Press the power button on the PC .. should get a slight spin of the fans.

Remove the little battery

Reset the CMOS with the jumper leaving the jumper on for at least 30 seconds.

Battery in

Power on

See if it boots

No need to use the jumper if you are using the battery removel method. It does the same thing;).

He did what I said and it's ok now.

Well, some of the windows files on his RAID are corrupt. Has to reinstall apparently, despite the mobo seeing the array as OK.

Cheers guys
