My bro's PC won't boot from the hard drive (failed to read). So I ran the Seagate Diagnostics boot CD, it found errors in every sector.
To double check this, I stuck the hard drive into my computer, ran the Seagate tools and no problems. Also I am able to get everything off the drive in Windows, no errors.
Now I'm thinking this is a motherboard issue (its about a year old cheapo AMD 939 foxconn one).
Should I just buy a new motherboard, reinstall windows on that hard drive, and everything should be fine?
Or could it be another component, RAM maybe?

even though the hard drive was still detected by the PC
Glad you fixed it!
