I dd'ed an NTFS disk and had the image mounted but there was a power outage and the image will no longer mount.

Can anyone think of a way of extracting data from the image?

Whatever I try to do to it, it claims that it's not a valid image as the magic is wrong.

I tried running ntfsfix on it, which completed, but it still wont do anything useful.

You could try opening it with some forensic software such as FTK Imager, or Encase. Alternatively, have a look for SPADA, which is a forensic Linux Boot CD, that should be able to repair or open the disc.
