last known good is reset when you login.

ie if you successfully login, that's the 'last known good'

nope didnt work
there isnt any nod32 on the pc, its just those reg entrys that are left, but there currupt, but until there gone i cant reinstall nod 32

looks like it may end up a vista reinstall, if i cant use nod32
i dont want to use anything else.
using mcafee at the mo just to keep pc safe

never in my 15 years of PC`s have i had something in the reg i couldnt delete
very strange

It will be a permissions issue on the registry key.

Sometimes these are impossible to sort out : /

Have you checked the processes to make sure that some part of nod 32 is not running and checked msconfig to check it doesnt start when windows does??

And can you see if regedit has it set to run automatically too.

Doesnt seem like its permissions, but have you logged on as the administrator to check it this way?

I think this is a new feature of Eset4, it holds certain registry keys open so that they can't be messed with if you know what I mean. Is the Eset service running or has it been removed as part of the de-install?

Remove NOD32 and restart.
Install and run CCLEANER, Clear all unused reg entires.
Restart reinstall NOD32 again.

dont you think i tried that the first time
there is no nod 32 on the PC, only thing left is the 10 or so reg entry's
but they aren't deleted by any cleaning program and i cant delete them manually

If I had to guess, I would say that the NOD driver is still installed and protecting these registry entries. Go to Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager, and selected View->Show hidden devices (there should now be an entry called "Non-Plug and Play Drivers"). Check under this entry to see if you can find one relating to NOD. You could then try disabling or uninstalling it to see if that then allows you to delete the reg entries (NOTE: you may have to reboot after disabling/uninstalling).
