I've got a massive zip file full of pictures off a dropbox account.
I'm downloading the pictures while a friend's on holiday, and I've only just noticed that the file is corrupt.

What's weird though is that all the files are found during a winrar and an Adavanced RAR Repair repair, but it can't give me a repaired file, which sucks balls.

Is there anything I can do, or are these photos lost forever?

Yes, and all it does it load winrar which then says unexpected end of archive, or it just cannot open ...
I've tried repairing it in winrar again, and it locates all the files, but then stops and says it's corrupt.

Odd.

yea, but you wont know its a corrupt upload without trying to download the file again, unless you can phone up someone who is local to the servers who will then test the file there.

The issue here is that I can't download it again :p

FWIW, it's lots of pictures off Dropbox, which I downloaded at once, thereby culminating in a 2GB zip file.

Lost forever then I presume? :(

I've gotta say, I would never zip up photos..

Assuming they're jpg, they won't compress well anyway

Salt in the wound, I know

There are plenty of ways around a passworded zip file. There are lots of brute force programs around, but if you want to runit with lower case, upper case, symbols and numbers it will take a huge amount of time to run on a cpu :P

But yea, dont zip up photo's, or if you really have to, do it with WinRAR or something and put a recovery record with it.

Yeah, the only reason it's a zip is because Dropbox did it that way into one massive download.

Shame really as now as it's all gone.
What I don't understand is that it 'finds' the files during the repair but is unable to restore them
