Corrupted hive but fine in safe mode

Hello, one of the pcs has a strange problem

It gives the error STOP:c0000218 when booting normally.

It will boot fine in safe mode and then if i run a chkdsk it will run fine next time the computer starts.

However if i dont run check disk i get the error again etc.

Ive googled it replace the registry and its the same.

So it looks like something if corrupting it when it boots any suggestion on finding what this is??

reinstall was the last thing i was going to try. Ive slaved the drive and have a backup of everything so not worried about loosing the data etc. Just annoying me not knowing whats causing it

ive tried that, but it appears to corrupt the "new" copy of the file after booting up. Looks like reinstall time
