I have a MacBook that hasn't been turned on in a year, I thought Id dust it off and give it to the little one for college as she would love it.
When I turn it on it boots straight to OSX utilities
I have run disk checks, verified disks, everything comes up as OK
If I try and choose 'Reinstall OSX'
I get the window 'Computers eligibility will be verified with Apple'
This then bombs out with 'An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running the application again.
How can I get out of this, can I exit the utilities at boot? At the moment, it opens the utilities app every time I boot.
Or, is it possible to install a fresh copy of ML or even Yosemite via a USB, I have another Mac at work (2013) if that helps. I used this to verify my Apple account works still.
Lastly, and this really is the nuclear option, if there is no way out, can I just whack Win 10 over the top via a USB install. I don't want to do this, but it is better than having an expensive doorstop
