Just bought Rome:Total War, and patched it up to 1.5
Went into the video options and tweaked about with them (auto-detect gave me 1024x769, and a rannge of medium/high settings). I changed everything that was high down to medium, and tried to switch up to 1280x800, which is my laptops native resolution. However, when it resizes the game, its all corrupted. It looks kinda like the water in this picture. (Note, picture not actually mine). I can make out the menu through the corruption, but I certainly wouldn't like to play the game like that. I did try to printscreen the problem, but when I pasted it in paint, it came out fine.

I'm guessing then that its a problem with my graphics card, rather than the game?

I'm playing this on a laptop, 1.7Ghz, 1Gb ram, 128Mb Gforce FX go5650.

Edit: Just updated to latest drivers, no change.

hmm no idea mate looks very weird and i havenever had that problem if u do get it sorted may i suggest avoiding vanilla rtw its pretty bad go download a mod like europa barbarium.

Well, I'm a bit hesitant to by either of the expansions if I can't get the vanilla game playing properly :/

It could be a problem with the installation, just uninstall and re-install, then if that hasnt sorted it, then it may well be your card, which is a bugger, as the expansions are also good

I doubt its the installation, since when I printscreen, the picture comes out perfectly with no corruption. This leads me to think that the graphics card is rendering it properly, but there's something interrupting the signal?
