Hi guys I'm about to buy speakers this week to replace them in my corsa c from 2004 as front speakers start to crack. I would want to get something similar to volkswagen B6 speakers that my dad has. I know they are stock speakers that came with car but not sure how much would I need to spend on speakers to get the same audio quality or better (I have to admit they sound quiet good, although I can hear them failing as at higher volumes base slightly farts?) Any recommendations? I'm going to put some dampening materials to doors as well.

What head unit have you got? You can't expect high quality speakers to sound good if you're only feeding them carp sound to begin with!

Also have a play with the equaliser in the radio to tone down the gain of the low tones or whatever the proper word is, to stop the horrendous crackly /fuzzy bass.

If you need to replace them, Just buy something like the basic pioneer or alpine speakers of the right size for the stock mounts. No point in spending a fortune unless you are going to refit the whole car, which will probably cost more than the car is worth.

Head unit that I got is pioneer deh-1800ub, I also have 1000w pioneer amp 4 channel (I go it it 2nd hand but works fine.) I'm just looking to replace front as already have pioneer 6/9. I want to get something decent for the front. I think they are either 6" or 6.5" components speakers. My budget is roughly 60-80 pounds.

I cant actually recommend anything but firstly I'd make sure I knew the size Exactly, then I'd search online for a pair of that size that meets the spec you want, then I'd search for that model for individual reviews / users experiences. Unless you have anywhere other than Halfords where you can hear them, you can only really judge them by user reviews.

Depends if the sub/speakers themselves are cracked, cos that would also generate a 'fart' noise. Using the equaliser to drop a few kHz from the bass region wouldn't help that, you'd have repair them.

This is the best advice anyone can give.

I wouldn't bother with Pioneer as they no longer exist - it is just a licensed brand like Polaroid, Kodak, Blaupunkt etc... It is just Chinese generic stuff and they pay to use the logo, even their TV's are just rebadged Sharps and Thomsons.

What about their DJ kit? Hardly Chinese licensed tat shirley?

Agree I bought Hertz DSK130.3 2-Way Car Speaker 120 Watt 13cm from rainforest
German supplier, initially they shipped wrong item dsk 130,
can check specs here
I used some high density packing foam which I cut to fit the existing mid-range
slots in door panels (older bm) and cut slots in these to mount tweeters, which were
much smaller than existing mid range.
