Corsa VXR *facepalm*

That might apply to you given your current choice of vehicle but I reckon there's quite a few people who do care about performance.

If you see my edit above:

The Corsa VXR does 0-60 0.1s quicker and has the greater top speed by 1 MPH

That hardly makes it significantly faster.

I'd rather have the keener and more nimble car, I doubt many people over the age of 12 actually care about 0-60 times and top speeds. Anyway, I'll be thrashing a Corsa VXR around Thruxton in July, so we'll see how good it is then :)

**edit**

i think you'll be surprised. especially if they do flying laps with pro drivers..

I'm not saying the Corsa VXR is not a good car, in fact many of the people who drove the Corsa on the VXR days found it to be the most fun to chuck about.

Cuchulain is making it seem black and white that the Corsa VXR is better because it hits 60 0.1s faster and has a higher top speed by 1 MPH.

The edit wasn't really necessary. Just turns it into a weeing contest which this isn't about.

182.. a universally respected French hot hatch, nimble, agile and N/A.

VXR.. a garish hot hatch made by Vauxhall, quite heavy but a powerful turbo engine.

To a piston head there is only one answer.

someone was making out it was black and white the OTHER way.. when infact its not...it may not be entirely even but i think its an overstatement to say that a Clio is far better in many or even any respects than the corsa.

and i dont have a corsa, or a vxr. or a vauxhall.

id take the astra personally given the drive i had on the VXR day but only because it has a tangible power increase over the corsa. but yes as you say the corsa for a hoon is difficult to beat.

Why do we constantly need to go over this? It isn't the act of 0-60 itself, its the fact its the only meaningful performance comparator that is widely published. It is fair to say that with two similar cars (ie both FWD), if one gets to 60 0.3 seconds quicker it will likely have an even bigger gap by the time they reach 100, or on the 30-70 dash, etc.

I wish people would stop thinking that anyone who mentions 0-60 genuinelly cares how fast the car hits 60 from rest.

Depends if you like Turbo power and melted pistons or a NASP engine and sharper handling.

Why would you melt the pistons in a Corsa VXR?

What a silly comment :p

You state positive facts about the 182 yet state a tainted view about the Corsa being garish and leave out its great handling and performance. nimble and agile you say. So's the Corsa!

So you think it looks awful. Smashing! It's stilll a very good car and at the very least level peggins with the 182.

No but you can see it has descended into a game of Car Top Trumps when top speeds are being mentioned. A number of factors that determine 0-60 time, the Corsa may well be able to hit 60 in 2nd and the 182 may need 3rd to hit 60 which would skew the times.

So, people aspire to contract herpes?

Yes people are different, but typically aspirations lead to the acquisition of something worth having.

In your eyes it's not worth having, doesn't mean someone else thinks like that. In his eyes it's probably not worth owning a BMW with 120k+ on the clock.

What an elitist, condescending troll comment to make, and not your first. I know you don't care, so this post shouldn't matter. It just seems someone pees on your bonfire every morning.

I'd be stoked to have a 14k car at 27, Corsa VXR or not. I live and lead modest medicore life becasue I know my intellectual limits and align my tastes and aspirations with that.

Excuse me?

If you're going to go there at least pick something I'm wrong about. The Corsa VXR does handle very well as stated in the press and by people here who's used them on a track. Check out the VXR Track day thread here and on other forums for real world experiences.

I guess you were just jumping on the anti Vauxhall bandwagon and don't have any actual knowledge to base your post on?

Oh, You're excused.
