In bed, asleep.
So after finally picking up a 3090 FE a couple of weeks ago I was able to get my act together and order the rest of the PC. The first parts arrived today and the rest will be arriving tomorrow so I figured I'd post this for posterity.

I'm replacing the following:

  • CPU: Intel Devils Canyon i7-4790k
  • Mobo: MSI Z97 Gaming 7
  • Graphics: Zotac GTX 1080 Ti AMP! Extreme
  • RAM: 4 x 8GB TeamGroup DDR-2400 RAM
  • SSD: 2 x Crucial MX500 - 500GB
  • SSD: 1 x Samsung 840 EVO - 128GB
  • SSD: 1 x Samsung 850 EVO - 500GB
  • Cooler: Corsair Hydro H105
  • PSU: Enermax Galaxy 850w PSU
  • Case: Corsair Graphite 760T
This is more or less the PC as it was built back in 2014, with the exception of another pair of 8GB RAM sticks, and replacing the MSI GeForce GTX 680 OC that I'd had since 2012 with a EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Superclock ACX 2.0 five months after the above had been put together (which then got replaced by the 1080 Ti).

So onto the new build:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800x
  • Mobo: ASUS AMD B550 ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING
  • Graphics: Nvidia RTX 3090 FE
  • RAM: 2 x 32 GB Corsair Vengance Pro 3200MHz
  • SSD: 2 x WD SN850 - 1TB
  • Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series iCUE H150i PRO XT RGB
  • PSU: Seasonic Prime TX-850
  • Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow

The rest arrives tomorrow!

Nice, bet it feels good to have all your parts. I just grabbed the 4000D and moved my mini ITX build into it almost in readiness for a new build and to prolongue the old build a bit. (Better air flow etc)
