Hi,

My case is far too loud to the point where its really starting to get on my nerves and I need to do something about it please can anyone shed some light on the following?

It comes with AF140L fans, are the AF140 Quiet Edition that are sold separate completely different fans, hopefully a hell of a lot quieter?

What other options do I have that is a straight swap out? The case is air cooled and I want good performance but a lot quieter than the standard fans

The Motherboard only has one PWM header too the case fans are constantly at full pelt!

Thanks

I have a Be Quiet Dark Rock 2 CPU cooler, its whisper quiet and barely ramps to high RPM its the case fans that are the problem

What I mean by only having one PWM header is thats for the CPU fan

The board has three seperate fan headers, one of which can be controlled with preset profiles but not PWM and its the other two (intakes) that run at full pelt as they cannot be controlled

I dont fancy splitting all three case fans off the CPU header and I'm not sure about running all three off the system fan header which has profiles?

I wouldn't recommend having so many fans running off the motherboard. Buy yourself a £30 fan controller and tweak till your heart is content bud ;)

First thing I did with the 540 air was bin the stock fans (even with a controller they aren't great noise wise - good air movement performance mind) and stuck some 140mm akasa apaches in there - on quiet they are inaudiable (the exhaust one does need a little manouvering to be able to fit the screw for the side door - I ended up boring a small hole in the fan chassis make it easier).

Just finished setting up my 540 Air - Got all three fans throttling down on my Aquaero 5 and it's whisper quiet at 650RPM's! - think my HDD makes more noise lol

just installed everything that fan controller was a bitch to get in lol just waiting on a few more things to arrive to mod my top gpu using my khuler 620

I'm not too sure what the case is like but buy some cheap kitchen floor tiles, cut them to size with a Stanley knife, and line the sides and top of your case. Won't affect the airflow but should help with the noise.

Went for a Bitfenix Recon and the difference in noise is amazing the case is so much quieter very happy

I've just bought the same case and thought it was quite loud (much louder than my previous BitFenix Ghost), so I ordered a BitFenix Recon. Needless to say I'm happy I've just seen your comment! :)

I've had the case for a little while now and the stock fans were binned after a few days and replaced with af120's but I found the case was still loud, more of a repetitive hum even after replacing the psu. Fitted sound dampening foam to it and its made a massive difference but now I can hear the fans even more so im looking for uber quiet 140mm fans.

Ive became quite obsessed with having a quiet pc now.
