Im going connecting 360 EK rad to top of my corsair 800D, Is it ok to screw directly to top of case...or do I need to put some sort of bracket in between the two

Personally I think screwing from the top should do the trick , but I'd like to double check.

Thanks

same here - just be careful you don't screw too far into the rad though - them fins get damaged pretty darn quickly!

The screws i had did come very close to the rad so i used a bitspower grill i had,
looks better and didnt puncture the rad

am i missing some screws or have I overlooked something that comes with the kit/case

the screws are either way way too long, or they are far too thick to go onto rad

?

Make sure the screws dont come close or your rad will be fubar
TBH i dont recall if the screws came with the case or rad or just turned up
but it doesnt cost more than a fiver to get some proper ones sourced !

oo - which grill did you gets mate? got any pics please?

I need somat to stop my kids from dropping crap into the rad - one of my fans stopped working last week (I didn't even know until i took it apart for something else lol!) - turns out there was some crisps stuck in its motor I had to clear out LOL

works fine .. just take precautions on the sharp pointy screws

if im not mistaken thats the standard fan screws that come with 800d, tbh they didnt seem like they wanted to fit at all when I was trying to screw them in

What thread size is the EK rad uou have? Google suggests they may be M3, the screws in the pic above look like self tappers which you don't want to be using if your rad has proper threaded holes. You'll probably be wanting some black M3 button head capscrews, or you could simply support the rad from the fans using normal fan screws, and use whatever M3 fitting you have to hand, cut to length, to secure the fans to the rad.

yeah the holes in rad are m3, the holes on top of case are a lot bigger.... so I need really short m3 screws with large heads

those self tappers are holding the rads in my 800D top and bottom,

can't remember if they cam with the PA120.3 or with the case though ..

check my build log for some ideas about bolting the fans and radiators onto the case

My TA120.3 from 4 years ago had the screw holes in different places from the case so could only use 4 screws and the rest I used cable ties, lol

I think thats because it didn't have the standard 15mm spacing mate . All the new rads come with 15mm spacing as standard these days

tried drilling m3 size holes on one side of rad to a 3.5mm size, then cut off half of the black top fan screws that came with corsair 800d case... have only gotten through 4 so far. surely there is an easier way to attach the rad to inside of case

I just used some fan screws.
