bought a corsair A50 cpu fan and it's pretty loud. just wondering whether i could replace the fan that comes with it for this:

I can control that one in particular due to the fact that it has 4 pin connector (current fan has 3 pin, so it's always on full). I've got a resistor cable thing, and a splitter, so in that case, could i use the A50's stock fan as a case fan, and attach the noctua one to the heatsink?

Or, could i put two fans on the heatsink, (A50 and noctua) for added cooling?

You can do all those things. It's up to you, although I'd want identical fans attached to a heatsink, running the same speed.

You can adjust 3 pin fan using a fan controller or via your motherboard if it's supported and also by using a 4 pin to 3 pin PWM converter.

ok then. if i were to get two noctua fans, i'd have two fans to plug into 1 socket. is there such thing as a 4 pin splitter, and would it reduce the power coming from the mobo to the fans?
