I just tried to fix an AF140 to the front of my case only to learn that the screws they provide are too short :/ am i missing something? Screws they provide are no good what so ever.

Yes im doing it from the outside.... Haha. Thats where im going wrong. Fan that came with the case was doing it this way with much longer screws. All makes sense now. Looks like im going to have to remove bays.. Gah!

Thanks chaps /idiot

Not good. I cant remove hard drive cage in 300r it looks attached to case = no clearance for screwdriver.

Looks like screws too fat for hole too. If they're self tappers i can't do it by hand. This install is going great...

Found 4 long screws to attach from outside (in case box thank god i kept) and will use original 4 long ones for the secomd af140. Thanks chaps. Ones that came with the fans are useless!!

Right, 2 af140s fitted as intake using all 8 long screws that came with the case - screwed from outside just like the 140 fan that came with case.

2 sp120s fitted to H80i with screws that came with H80i

Now im stuck on last AF120 for roof. The screws that came with this fit into the roof of the 300r however when i try to screw it in (from outside as screws are again short) using the provided af120 screws i cant get a tight fitting. If i try to fit the flush with case, the grey plastic on fan corners starts to shift and a loose fitting results in a wobbly fan!

Any ideas how to fit this last fan before i smash my head against a wall? Looks like the fan has no thread too accept the screw. Help mucho appreciated!!

No worries mate. I did a quick google. It seems af/sp fans dont have a thread to accept screws so it takes so brute force to get screws in.

I basically screwed and unscrewed over and over outside case to make a thread then they fitted fine. Pretty pure design for corsair though if you ask me. Rubber to accept screw but no thread :/ i can see it ripping easy with a heavy hand. Not ideal. Seems a lot of people had same issues online as me. All sorted now. What a mare!

Thanks for your help

I've had issues with the AF/SP before, even destroying one of the rubbers!!

They aren't great in this respect :)

I can imagine mate. They should have a screw and bolt maybe or at lease provide a thread. I guess it's so they're universal with the screws they accept though as out of the 5 I installed, only 1 I used the screws that came with the fan. rest I had to raid my case box to get them installed. Not the most straight forward of fans but got them all installed and happy with the end result :)
