I've just had to RMA my Enermax revolution 1050 power supply due to a noisy fan. Apparantly this model is prone to intermittant fan noise.

I've fitted a new Corsair AX850 unit tonight as a temporary measure until I get my Enermax replaced but i'm thinking do I really need a 1KW unit as I just run 1 x 580 GTX card and don't intend to add another.

Should I refit the new Enermax or keep the Corsair?

The Corsair should be fine with 2, I did run 2 with a 750w PSU without problem.

I did a power test with my system running Prime and the GPU running Furmark I was getting 500w~ from the mains.

The AX850w will be fine, run two 470's on an HX850w. 530w total draw when gaming, prime and furmark together though drew 866w ono, wont be doing that in a hurry again.:D

I think i'll be selling my Enermax when it comes back. I did like the look of it in my case and I thought that spending over £200 on a power supply would be some guarantee of quality. I did'nt expect the fan to start making a noise after only 4 months.

The AX850 is a better psu anyway and it will handle SLI 580s very comfortably if you do ever want a 2nd.

As the OP states he wont be adding another one, so you could go with an AX750, but i would recommend you go with AX850 just to be sure, encase you do want another one down the line.
