Hi,

I'm considering upgrading my PSU, i am currently using the aforementioned PSU, i was considering changing this to the AX1200i version as i've just recetently purchased 2 980ti's.

I suspect that the cables for both units are compatible together, but if anyone knew for sure i'd like to know before purchasing. The reason i want to do this is because i've already custom sleeved my cables (as you can see in my build log linked in my signature).

I did think that the 860 would be enough, but i thought as i'm x79 with a 4930k overclocked, and i'll be looking to overclock the GPU's too that i might need some more head room

You should be okay, but in any event, if you do upgrade 1000 watts would be way more then enough. May want to take a peek at the HXi series. Just as good where it matters and it uses a quieter fluid dynamic fan (only the AXi 1500 has the newer fan in the range), quieter fan profile and can use your sleeved cables fine as it has the same connector slots as the AXi range.

This is a good shout, thanks for that!

If you were to upgrade, I wouldn't choose one of the currently overpriced AXi (or indeed Corsair excl RMx) units at this time

However, for SLI 980Ti personally I would say you should be fine
There's no way I'd pay £280 for a 1200W PSU

Only reason i'm considering only a Corsair PSU is i want to keep the same cables and just do a straight swap. I've spent many hours custom sleeving my cables, so would rather keep them rather than starting all over!
