Kinda looking over a few possibilities to go with the DS3 board. Assuming i wont be overclocking, and just stick in the ram and off we go, which would be better and is there much difference between them

Corsair 1GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4 TwinX (2x512MB) £117
Corsair 1GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x512MB) £94
Corsair 1GB DDR2 XMS2-5400C4 TwinX (2x512MB) £83

Is C4 that much better than C5, and also is there much of a difference between the 667MHz and 800MHz bandwidths.

I noticed, between the gigabyte site and the ram compatibility thread in the motherboard section, only the XMS2-6400C4 is listed as compatible on the gigabyte site however its marked as incompatible here, with the other 2 listed as compatible.

Any thoughts ?

I have the corsair 6400 C4 running stable with no problems at all
That llist is not as updated as it should be as i know two orther guys also running with no problems.Only thing is that board only power up with 1.8Volts on the ram and some prople have found they ram needs more than that to boot up.
But as i said my ram booted just fine with 1.8V. Since then i have found that my over clocks are better with not a lot of volts on the ram

There are benchies that prove 533 memory performs better than 667 due to cpu:mem ratio (synchronous with conroe processor). The 800 should perform a bit better and the lower c4 will agian be a bit faster than the c5, if u manage to get it to run stable on the mb. What cpu u running?

I suppose its really what u can afford, but 2gb of slower memory is always going to perform better than 1gb of faster memory, especially in games.

i got 2 gb of corsair 2 x 1gb of xms2 6400 c5 for £160 havent used it yet as i only have my mobo and the memory , but i will get the e6300 and a nother new mobo the ds3 once i can afford the new pcie graphics card .....

i dont think there is that much diff between the c4 and c5 , the mem will overclock anyways , as it aint elchepo ram modules
