Well, after recovering almost fully from my dodgy back (pinched nerve - NEVER felt pain like that before) that was stopping from bending over and picking things up I've decided to give my build a go. Got my Corsair C70 Military Green case - love it so far - and am about to fiddle around with fan placement. I do however have a couple of questions I hope someone can help me with...

1 - after taking off the front panel in hopes of installing a couple of 120mm fans to draw air in I've noticed that the holes in the frame you'd normally secure things to are a wee bit too small for either any screws I have or indeed the rubber fan pin things that came with the fans themselves. Has anyone else had this issue? I was thinking of just using a few black cable ties and securing them that way but I thought I'd check this out first

2 - I have a Corsair H100i cooler - heard great things about this - it will be going in the top of the case with a couple of special Corsair SP120mm fans but what would be the best option for orientation? I know it would be to have them drawing air out of the case but would it be best to have the fans installed first with the rad below them or the rad first and then attach the fans to the bottom of the rad?

Thanks in advance for any help...and a HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!! Be safe!

So the fans are intaking air...ok. Just a bit confusing that one of the OCUK tech bods said to have them mounted (like you said - rad below them) and drawing air out through the top of the case.

The other thing is that I've fitted a couple of fans on the front of the case drawing air in - the rear fan is extracting air out - I'm thinking about putting a couple of fans on the side panel to blow air on the gfx card (currently a 660Ti - not sure about whether or not to get a second one for SLI or upgrade to a 670GTX - I do have a rather nice Benq XL2420 120hz monitor here...not sure which graphics setup is best for this), but this would mean having just the rear fan extracting air out...that doesn't sound right to me. What would you suggest doing for orientating the other case fans?

Current fan setup:

2 fans front - currently intake
1 fan rear - outake
2 fans top - intake (if I go with the recommended h100i setup)

side panel...?

Sorry, put the fans on the to as an exhaust (blowing air out) with the rad below them. :p

So you will have:

2 Intake (Front)
1 Exhaust (Rear)
2 Exhaust (Top on the H100i)

Also, is you Graphics card a reference design? If it is (and the card is quite hot) have the fans on the side blowing air onto it (intake). If its non-reference (custom cooler) then you might want the fans pulling air out of the case as non-reference designs put hot air into the case. :)

Not the tidiest/colour co-ordinated of cases :D
I removed the lower part of the HDD cage for better airflow from the bottom front fan. Moved it inside the case to reduce some of the noise from it because of the dust filters you get on the case. Top fan is to cool HDD on a push pull config with the one inside. Rear fan is an exhaust. I also have one fan on the side panel pushing air on to the 460GTX

I have the corsair H60 and used the fans i had already from the prolimatech heatsink that i got with the overclocked 3570k bundle. Also on a push/pull config.

I had no problems fixing the fans to the front using supplied screws. The holes come threaded.

First case I've spent more than £30-40 on and well happy with it.

I can count, I meant to imply that isn't it about twice as many as you actually need? The fans on the front also look horribly restricted?

I like those cases though, practical :)

You need as many as you feel necessary, more the better in my book i can feel air coming out the top of the case which means there's airflow which can only be a good thing right?, its not that noisy plus that's what the fan controllers there for. front bottom fan isn't restricted at all, top front one might be a bit.
